Expresso's 10 Top Tips for a Great Family Party
1. Start planning your party in plenty of time – venues, marquee suppliers and caterers often get booked up months in advance
2. Menu – consider the time of day, whether or not alcohol is being served, the availability of seating/tables - and how long you expect guests to stay at your party
3. Special diets – don’t forget to ask your guests about any special dietary requirements, they won’t necessarily remember to tell you they’re vegetarian/wheat free/lactose intolerant etc!
4. Children – consider their requirements (think high chairs, entertainment, play areas, activity packs, special meals etc)
5. The weather – have a wet weather contingency plan
6. Be visible – make sure your guests can easily find you! Include clear directions on your invitation and include details of parking arrangements. And if it’s an evening event you’ll need lighting too!
7. Loos – consider hiring in ‘posh’ porta-loos if you’re having the event at home
8. Drinks – if you’re thinking of providing the drinks yourself then don’t forget to have the facilities in place to chill down bottles – warm fizz could really take the sparkle out of the party!
9. Power – if you’ll be plugging in lots of extra equipment (amps, music systems, lights, portable ovens, hot cupboards etc) make sure the circuit will cope!
10. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask! – make the most of your suppliers’ experience, they will probably be able to come up with options you’d never thought of!
